One hour in the company of: Alianza Flamenca, a local flamenco ensemble that brings to New Orleans the magic and duende of flamenco music. You may find them giving a workshop in schools, lessons on dancing, or frequently around town in clubs that wanna have this truly multinational band on stage offering their passionate New Orleans approach to the traditional music from the South of Spain.
Alianza Flamenca are Solángel Cálix, on palmas, castañuelas, jaleos and cante; John Lawrence, on guitar; and Masako Masaki, on cajón and palmas. They are performing a magical live show in the studio this evening, as announcing their upcoming gigs at One Eye Jack on Sat. Apr. 30, and Café Brasil on Sun. May 1.
